Journal Your Christmas - Day19

More snow last night & more on the way. My feet have been cold all day and being cold makes me crabby. I have been very crabby today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Journal Your Christmas - Day 16

Today's prompt was Gratitude. I am by nature a grateful and thankful person so this was an easy one for me. I could have made a huge list but instead just chose to list a few. I am grateful for everything in my life right now.

I love this video. Mostly because it is so colorful but also because this took a lot of work and creativity to implement.

Journal Your Christmas - Day15

Well, I managed to get a little behind on my Journal Your Christmas project. Today's prompt addressed that issue and suggested just posting today's and go from there. So that's what I'm doing. I got "hung up" on the Christmas tree prompt. We don't have a tree up and I let that get in they way of my journaling. I took some photos of the trees at church yesterday and after I download them from my camera, there may be one that I can use. If not, I will take apicture of the tree at Joe & Kristine's house on Christmas day.

Isn't He Cute!

Monster_2months

I think he's about 2 months old here. He has won me over. He still thinks Sunny is his "mom" and purrs very loudly for him but I only get a few sputters. But he is sweet and has made himself right at home. I know if we had left him outside he wouldn't have survived. I think we did the right thing by bringing him in!

ScrapOrchard Template Challenge #5

This layout was completed for a challenge at ScrapOrchard. (click it to see the credits). I'm not entirely happy with this so I may redo it. These are all photos that were taken on Christmas day 2005. Only the large background photo was specifically of Little Guy. All the rest, he just managed to insert himself. He always needs to know what is going on!!

Journal Your Christmas day 7

Wow, I've kept this up for 7 days - which is 6 days longer than last year. I think it has helped that I decided to concentrate on the journaling and not worry do much about having photos that fit the prompt.

I've been trying to customize by blog posts that I make from Flickr. This is a test post so see if I was able to size my graphics correctly.

Journal Your Christmas Day 6

Today's prompt was to journal about your best and your worst Christmas. Thinking about my worst has me a little down this evening. It still affects me I guess over 40 years later. I wonder if my brother & sister even remember it. I haven't seen/talked to my sister for several years but when the past is brought up by my brother we don't seem to remember the same things. I think we each remember the things that affected us as individuals. Memories are strange things.

Journal Your Christmas - Day 5

This is my journal entry for today. It was a very productive day. I finished the bulletin for church. Tonight we completed a large portion of our Christmas shopping. That is a relief! It was snowing tonight on the way home - the fluffy, pretty kind of snow. It was nice.

One of my favorite songs...

is this one. It is so beautiful and so meaningful. It reminds me of the hope and love we have in Christ.

Journal Your Christmas Day 4

Today's journaling prompt was to journal your perfect Christmas. My perfect Christmas is pretty simple. Click on the layout to see the credits.

Winter Weather

Today's journal prompt was the weather during the Holiday season. Here in Iowa winters can be brutal with lots of snow, wind and very cold temperatures. Most winters there is snow on the ground most of the time between Thanksgiving and the first week or so of April. It can seem like a long time! Some times it is beautiful and I do like it for the most part. I just don't like driving in it! As a matter of fact, we have a winter weather advisory in effect for over night through tomorrow. It is not so much for the snow as it is for the wind that will blow the snow around.  Here is my journal page for today:

Journal Your Christmas

Last year I signed up for Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas class. I only partially completed two layouts and didn't post either one of them. This year I'm included in the class automatically and this year I plan to journal more than two days. Today journaling  is included on a scrapbook layout. It is a modified form of last year's "manifesto." I have found it difficult to get into the Christmas spirit the last couple of years. Bethany was the one who decorated and really got everyone fired up. She loved Christmas and it just hasn't been the same without her here. But in the spirit of the true meaning of Christmas (the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ), I want to "feel" Christmas this year.

Oops!

This post was intended to be my last one for the month of November but I guess it will be the first one for December. I'm pretty happen with how many times I posted last month. It wasn't every day but I posted more this month than all my other previous posts! I also moved my blog from TypePad to Blogger and was able to do some customization. For that I am grateful. I've also been doing some uploads to my Flickr account. Not much there yet but I'm working on it.

Here is a digital layout that I created using digital supplies from Katie Pertiet and a template from Pattie Knox.

Envy

I've always loved Natalie Merchant but my library of her music is rather limited. I like to listen to Pandora when I'm working at my computer. Tonight I heard this song. Wow! I titled this post "Envy" because I would love to have her voice and to be able to sing like that. And the way she moves....she's obviously very comfortable in her skin. I love that she is not super skinny but pleasingly curvy and very beautiful. Actually I'm just grateful that there are others who are talented and are willing to share their talents!

Crummy Day

Today was a really crummy day. It has been three years since the accident that claimed Bethany & Haylee's lives.  Today was just so overwhelming to me. I think of them often and other than today is an anniversary, I don't know why it was so much harder today.

IMG_0854  This is Bethany taking Haylee to church when she was just 8 days old.

Monster & Sunny

Can you tell that they like each other??? They play really well together. It is so much fun having a kitten in the house again. He is fearless!

I Did It!

I finally managed to change my template to include a custom header AND a custom background. I know I'll change it again but for now I am very happy that I figured it out!

Not much going on in my life right now. Struggling with homework with Presten but that seems to go in cycles. I certainly don't mind helping him but I get frustrated when he wants me to basically do it for him. He is a very intelligent boy and I wish I knew better how to encourage him to do HIS best. That is all I want is for him to do HIS best. So I guess I need to go give him some encouragement right now.

Still trying...

to change my template. I WILL figure it out. I guess it doesn't really matter. This one is ok. The thing is when I had my blog at TypePad, one of the things I found frustrating was that the only thing I could customize was the header. Every time I went looking for templates all I found were Blogger templates. So I switched to Blogger and I still can't haven't been able to customize the way I want to. At least I'm saving money by being on Blogger!

Just another photo of Monster. I need to get some new ones because he is growing like a weed!

I tried...

to use a custom blog template. And I failed. I'm not giving up though. I know it can be done & I'm sure I'll figure it out. I'll try again in the morning and if it still doesn't work I will e-mail the template designer to see if she can help me. In my younger days, I probably would have been a pro at this sort of thing. I just haven't kept up. On the other hand I know more computer stuff than anyone else I know.

Tomorrow...

is one of a procrastinator's favorite words. I am so frustrated by by everything right now that I can't even express how I feel. So maybe this will help. But because it is already after 9 PM, I really do have to wait until tomorrow. Maybe I won't feel so blue then either. I hate feeling this way. Off to do some reading and then bed.

New Blog

I closed my blog on TypePad. I realized that I can do most (if not all or even more) things with a free account here. Sorry TypePad but I don't see paying $$ for something I can get for free. My main reason for initially going with TypePad was that it seemed more customizable and all the "cool" people were using it. Well, Blogger has come a long way and I think will meet my needs just fine.

Right now the header is not the right size but I will fix it later. I copied and pasted the most recent TypePad entries here.  Anyway welcome to my "new" blog.

And please welcome the newest member of the Hanson family. This is Monster. He's been making himself quite at home.

100_1038It did snow last night and most of the day today. There wasn't much accumulation since the ground is still rather warm. Here's Presten this morning before he left for school. He doesn't look too happy here but he really was very happy about the snow. He loves it!

And here's the bread! And yes  it is yummy!

Yellowsunnybear

My user name around the Internet is Yellowsunnybear. How did I end up with that? Very simple. Several years ago I was trying to find a user name for a site that I was signing up for (I don't even remember which one). I had a new kitten named Sunny that was pretty special to me because he was blind and he really amazing me at how oblivious he was to that fact. So I tried using "Sunny" but that was taken. Then I tried "Sunnybear" (one of his nicknames). Next I tried "Littlebear." That was also taken. Then I tried Yellowsunnybear because Sunny is a yellow (orange) cat. That was available so I took it. I liked it and decided to use it everywhere to keep things simple. So here is my sweet Sunny - first as a baby then more recently.

NaBloPoMo

What the @#!$ is NaBloPoMo you ask? Well, its National Blog Posting Month. All that is required to participate is to post at least one blog post each day for the month of November. Can I do it?? Yes, I can!!

I finally uploaded a photo to my Flickr account. I did it to enter a contest to for an external hard drive. Can never have to many external hard drives!!  Anyway, this is the photo I uploaded:

083

So I'm going to keep this post short because I need to have something to say for the rest of the month.

Art Journal Video

I love this video. I want to do journals like this.. and the song fits with the images perfectly.

She reminds me of me

when I was younger. I can totally see myself decorating my living space this way... and the music is great too.

This is the theme song for the new MacBookAir  commercials. It is called New Soul by Yael Naim.
